Le massif armoricain est rest\u00e9 \u00e9merg\u00e9 et soumis \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9rosion pendant une grande partie du M\u00e9sozo\u00efque, ce qui a effac\u00e9 la plupart des d\u00e9p\u00f4ts s\u00e9dimentaires potentiellement fossilif\u00e8res. Cependant, on peut inf\u00e9rer logiquement la pr\u00e9sence de dinosaures en Bretagne \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque, car la r\u00e9gion faisait partie du continent eurasiatique (Laurasia apr\u00e8s la fragmentation de la Pang\u00e9e), avec des environnements terrestres favorables. Les dinosaures voisins trouv\u00e9s en France (surtout dans le sud et l&rsquo;ouest) ou en Europe permettent d&rsquo;imaginer une faune similaire. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">La Bretagne au Trias<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5696 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/stourm.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"784\" height=\"1168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stourm.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-3.jpg 784w, https:\/\/stourm.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-3-201x300.jpg 201w, https:\/\/stourm.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-3-687x1024.jpg 687w, https:\/\/stourm.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-3-768x1144.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 784px) 100vw, 784px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Situ\u00e9e au niveau du Maroc actuel, la Bretagne (Massif armoricain) pendant le M\u00e9sozo\u00efque (252\u201366 Ma) \u00e9tait caract\u00e9ris\u00e9e par un relief tr\u00e8s faible, typique d&rsquo;une p\u00e9n\u00e9plaine (ou surface d&rsquo;aplanissement) ancienne, issue de l&rsquo;\u00e9rosion prolong\u00e9e de la cha\u00eene varisque (hercynienne) form\u00e9e au Pal\u00e9ozo\u00efque. La cha\u00eene varisque avait atteint des altitudes \u00e9lev\u00e9es (probablement 8 000\u201310 000 m \u00e0 son apog\u00e9e au Carbonif\u00e8re), mais au Trias (250 &#8211; 200 Ma), elle \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 fortement \u00e9rod\u00e9e et r\u00e9duite \u00e0 un paysage quasi plat.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">G\u00e9ographie physique<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Le Massif armoricain \u00e9tait une zone continentale \u00e9merg\u00e9e, relativement stable apr\u00e8s l&rsquo;orogen\u00e8se varisque (hercynienne) du Pal\u00e9ozo\u00efque tardif. Il s&rsquo;agissait d&rsquo;un socle ancien \u00e9rod\u00e9, formant un relief de type appalachien ou de basses collines, avec des altitudes modestes (quelques centaines de m\u00e8tres au maximum, souvent aplani). Le relief \u00e9tait caract\u00e9ris\u00e9 par :<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Des surfaces d&rsquo;\u00e9rosion et des p\u00e9diplaines h\u00e9rit\u00e9es des phases post-varisques.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Des bassins s\u00e9dimentaires continentaux limit\u00e9s (grabens ou demi-grabens) activ\u00e9s par l&rsquo;extension li\u00e9e \u00e0 la fragmentation pr\u00e9coce de la Pang\u00e9e et au d\u00e9but de l&rsquo;ouverture de l&rsquo;Atlantique central.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Peu ou pas de s\u00e9diments triasiques conserv\u00e9s directement sur le Massif armoricain en Bretagne (contrairement aux bordures comme le bassin de Paris ou le Sud de la France). La r\u00e9gion \u00e9tait majoritairement exond\u00e9e, avec \u00e9rosion active et exportation de mat\u00e9riaux vers les marges continentales ou les bassins adjacents.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Pas de grandes mers \u00e9picontinentales couvrant la Bretagne au Trias ; les transgressions marines jurassiques viendront plus tard.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Climat<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Le climat global du Trias \u00e9tait un Greenhouse chaud (sans calotte polaire permanente), avec des temp\u00e9ratures moyennes \u00e9lev\u00e9es et une homog\u00e9n\u00e9it\u00e9 climatique plus marqu\u00e9e qu&rsquo;aujourd&rsquo;hui en raison de la configuration de la Pang\u00e9e (supercontinent centr\u00e9 sur l&rsquo;\u00e9quateur). Pour la Bretagne (pal\u00e9olatitude environ 20\u201330\u00b0N au Trias moyen-sup\u00e9rieur) :<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Climat chaud et majoritairement aride \u00e0 semi-aride, avec une forte \u00e9vaporation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Alternance marqu\u00e9e entre saisons s\u00e8ches (tr\u00e8s chaudes, jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 35\u201345\u00b0C en \u00e9t\u00e9 dans les zones int\u00e9rieures de Pang\u00e9e) et p\u00e9riodes de moussons ou pluies saisonni\u00e8res plus intenses.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Conditions d\u00e9sertiques ou semi-d\u00e9sertiques dominantes au centre du supercontinent, avec expansion des d\u00e9serts ; la Bretagne, en position plus marginale (proche des marges oc\u00e9aniques naissantes), connaissait probablement un climat semi-aride avec des pr\u00e9cipitations irr\u00e9guli\u00e8res et limit\u00e9es (saison des pluies courtes).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Pas de glace polaire ; les temp\u00e9ratures hivernales restaient positives ou mod\u00e9r\u00e9ment fra\u00eeches en haute latitude, mais en Bretagne subtropicale, le climat \u00e9tait globalement chaud et sec.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Flore<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">La flore triasique continentale \u00e9tait fortement appauvrie apr\u00e8s la crise permotriasique (plus grande extinction de l&rsquo;histoire). Elle s&rsquo;adaptait \u00e0 des conditions arides et chaudes, avec une reconqu\u00eate progressive \u00e0 partir du Trias moyen :<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Dominance des gymnospermes conif\u00e9riens et apparent\u00e9s : Voltziales (conif\u00e8res ancestraux comme Voltzia), Cheirolepidiaceae (famille dominante dans les environnements arides), et premiers taxons proches des araucarias modernes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; font-style: var(--viral-mag-body-style, normal); letter-spacing: var(--viral-mag-body-letter-spacing, 0); text-transform: var(--viral-mag-body-text-transform, none); text-decoration: var(--viral-mag-body-text-decoration, none);\">Pr\u00e9sence de pt\u00e9ridospermes (foug\u00e8res \u00e0 graines) r\u00e9siduelles et de cycadales ou bennettitales (plantes \u00e0 allure de palmiers ou foug\u00e8res arborescentes), mais moins abondantes que dans le Jurassique.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; font-style: var(--viral-mag-body-style, normal); letter-spacing: var(--viral-mag-body-letter-spacing, 0); text-transform: var(--viral-mag-body-text-transform, none); text-decoration: var(--viral-mag-body-text-decoration, none);\">Flore herbac\u00e9e et arbustive adapt\u00e9e \u00e0 la s\u00e9cheresse : foug\u00e8res (comme Equisetites ou Cladophlebis), lycopodes, et plantes \u00e0 cuticules \u00e9paisses ou stomates enfonc\u00e9s pour limiter la perte d&rsquo;eau.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; font-style: var(--viral-mag-body-style, normal); letter-spacing: var(--viral-mag-body-letter-spacing, 0); text-transform: var(--viral-mag-body-text-transform, none); text-decoration: var(--viral-mag-body-text-decoration, none);\">Absence de for\u00eats denses et luxuriantes comme au Carbonif\u00e8re ou au Jurassique ; la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation \u00e9tait plut\u00f4t ouverte, avec des formations de type savane aride, broussailles x\u00e9rophiles, ou galeries foresti\u00e8res le long des cours d&rsquo;eau temporaires.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; font-style: var(--viral-mag-body-style, normal); letter-spacing: var(--viral-mag-body-letter-spacing, 0); text-transform: var(--viral-mag-body-text-transform, none); text-decoration: var(--viral-mag-body-text-decoration, none);\">Pollen et spores fossiles indiquent une flore de climat chaud et sec, avec une faible diversit\u00e9 compar\u00e9e aux p\u00e9riodes humides.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">En r\u00e9sum\u00e9, la Bretagne au Trias \u00e9tait un haut-fond continental \u00e9rod\u00e9, sous un climat subtropical chaud et semi-aride, avec une v\u00e9g\u00e9tation clairsem\u00e9e domin\u00e9e par des conif\u00e8res et gymnospermes r\u00e9sistants \u00e0 la s\u00e9cheresse. Ces conditions contrastent fortement avec le climat plus humide et subtropical du Jurassique qui suivra, favorisant alors des for\u00eats plus denses. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Les dinosaures de la Bretagne triassique<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">D&rsquo;apr\u00e8s la pal\u00e9og\u00e9ographie et les d\u00e9couvertes dans les r\u00e9gions p\u00e9riph\u00e9riques du Massif armoricain (Normandie, Cotentin, Vend\u00e9e, Anjou, etc., qui font partie du m\u00eame bloc continental armoricain \u00e9largi), on peut inf\u00e9rer logiquement la pr\u00e9sence de dinosaures primitifs en Bretagne au Trias sup\u00e9rieur (Carnien\u2013Norien\u2013Rh\u00e9tien, ~235\u2013201 Ma). Le Massif armoricain faisait partie de la Laurasie nord-occidentale, proche de la Pang\u00e9e en fragmentation, avec un climat chaud et aride\/subtropical, des plaines alluviales, des rivi\u00e8res saisonni\u00e8res et des for\u00eats de conif\u00e8res primitifs. Les dinosaures du Trias sont encore rares et primitifs (premiers vrais dinosaures apparus vers 233\u2013230 Ma). En Europe occidentale et en Bretagne, la faune triassique tardive est domin\u00e9e par des sauropodomorphes basaux (prosauropodes primitifs) et des th\u00e9ropodes primitifs (coelophyso\u00efdes-like). <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">1. Ils \u00e9taient encore rares et de petite \u00e0 moyenne taille, occupant souvent des niches marginales. Les 80 % (ou plus) du restant de la faune terrestre (non-dinosaures) \u00e9taient compos\u00e9s principalement de reptiles archosaures non dinosaures (pseudosuchiens et leurs alli\u00e9s), de synapsides (reptiles mammaliens ou therapsides), d&rsquo;amphibiens et d&rsquo;autres groupes de reptiles primitifs.
